Sebring vs. Lake Placid: Comparing Local Real Estate Options
How Sebring and Lake Placid compare for buyers in Highlands County — town character, property types, lakes and what to ask.
By Lauren Gregg, Real Estate Broker Associate

Two lake towns, different feels
Sebring is the county seat with more retail, services and a larger commercial corridor along US 27. Lake Placid, to the south, has a smaller-town atmosphere surrounded by lakes. Both offer lakefront and in-town options.
Property types
Sebring buyers often compare established neighborhoods, lake communities, golf communities and commercial property. In Lake Placid, buyers frequently focus on lakefront homes, vacant lots and rural acreage nearby.
Daily routine
Think about where you will work, shop and see the doctor. Drive the routes at the times you would normally travel.
Questions to ask in either town
Regardless of location, ask about flood zones, insurance costs, HOA or deed restrictions, utilities and jurisdiction (city vs. county).
Visiting both
Spending a day in each town is the best comparison. Lauren can help plan showings in both so you can see the differences firsthand.
